Thing # 4

The writing is very informal! Anyone can do it. When I read the duck blog I found it funny.  Every blog was an opinion from the writer and then comments, of course, were a free for all!  Reading a blog takes a little time to get used to. It is different from other types of writing because it is from the perspective of the person writing it.  Also, comments is another thing that is interesting to read.  Blog writing is different because anyone can do it. We see first graders even blogging.  I think it is also very interactive because almost everyone loves to read comments posted by others.  Atleast I am really looking forward to that part. There are so many uses for blogging!  We can see blogs used all over to facilitate learning in many ways.  Students can comment on other students blogs and even parents can see what their child is learning.  Now we can even blog with our iphone! Although that blog titled Spies Like Us scared me a little with the technology available to students on their iphone.   Blogging definitely could have a place in our  classrooms, but the necessary precautions need to be taken! The blogging could certainly get out of hand or cause problems for students like in the article about cyberbullying!

  1. I agree that blogging is an awesome resource. As you stated precautions need to be taken. You must monitor what is being done by your students and adjust things as you see fit.
